7 Cries from the Cross

I've been listening to a lot of messages lately, especially during the hours of feeding Owen, and I so enjoyed a series by Pete Greasley of Christchurch in Wales entitled, "The 7 Cries from the Cross". It was so powerful. Here is the web site if anyone is interested:

www.christchurchnet.org

I've really been enjoying all the downloads I've found...it's so great that they are all free!!! I also loved a message by CJ Mahaney from the New Attitude conference on our adoption.

Both boys are sleeping...it seems so quiet...it's funny how I miss then when they are asleep. Although, I do enjoy getting some cleaning done and being able to check my email now and again. :-)

Visit from Mike, Terri and Kaylynn

Mike, Terri and Kaylynn came for dinner tonight and Kaylynn got to meet Owen for the first time. It was so cute to see her holding Owen. I am so excited for when Owen's a little older and he'll get to really know Kaylynn. David LOVES Kaylynn and was very excited for her to come over and play.

We tried to get some pictures of all the cousins together, but David wasn't too cooperative. :-) We had such a great time and are really looking forward to Kaylynn's 3rd birthday party coming up in a few weeks!!!

My Sister's Baptism

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

This verse was read as part of one of the many wonderful prophetic words given to my sister today during her baptism. It was a powerful time and God's love was just poured out on my sister. I know this verse is true and the Lord has put her feet on the Rock and now the sun has come out and the night is over. Becky shared what God had done for her and our hearts were filled with joy. This day was the answer to many, many prayers and we are so, so proud of her. She is a gift to us and we are filled with praise to the Lord for rescuing her from the miry bog. We love our Aunt B!!! Praise you Savior for your unending mercy and love. Praise you for never letting your grip go on my sister!

Owen's One Month Check-Up

Owen is a growing boy! He is 8 pounds, 14 ounces now and he grew 1 1/4 inches! The doctor said he looks great and was very pleased with his growth. He seems to have a little reflux, so we are going to try propping him up for a while after each feeding. Hopefully, that will work and we won't have to give him the medication that David had to take.

Owen's waking up a couple of times a night and seems to be getting into a little schedule. Maybe in a couple of weeks, he'll let me stretch him to every 3 1/2 hours...we'll see.

That's all for now!

The Lord's Help and Rest

This really helped me today...from Spurgeon's Checkbook of the Bank of Faith

"My brethren, God is good.
he will not forsake you: he will bear you through.
There is a promise prepared for your present emergencies;
and if you will believe and plead it at the mercy-seat through Jesus Christ,
you shall see the hand of the Lord stretched out to help you.
Everything else will fail, but His word never will."

Also, this verse I read today...it's a great verse for me now! :-)

Psalm 127:2
"...and he gives to his beloved sleep."

Another quote by Spurgeon...
"...the Lord himself gives us not only the reasons for rest, but rest itself. Jesus himself is our peace, our rest, our all.
'Sprinkled afresh with pardoning blood,
I lay me down to rest
As in the embraces of my God,
Or on my Savior's breast.' "

Our little guy and big guy (pt. 2)

Our little guy and big guy

Here's some pictures of David having a blast at Popop and Mimi's house and of Owen. Our two precious boys...

Abigail Jane Jackson

Abigail was born on Saturday, July 19. She was 9 pounds, 1 ounce and 23 inches long. When Keith called Dave to give us the news, I just broke down in tears...I was so filled with joy and thankfulness to God for their baby girl. We got to meet her yesterday and she was such a precious little baby girl. I think she looks like her Mama. David can't wait to meet Isaac's little sister and we can't wait to see her again! We are so overjoyed for Keith and Lindy and Isaac that Abby is here and she is beautiful.

Welcome Abigail Jane!!!

Doctor's Appointment!

Owen had his second doctor's appointment and the good news is...he gained 10 ounces in the last week! So, he gained back his birth weight and now weighs 7 lbs, 10 ounces. Mommy was very relieved to know that he is eating well and the doctor said it would be fine to let Owen sleep at night and not wake him up. He's been sleeping between 4 and 5 hours for the first stretch, so we are grateful for the sleep!!! Owen has been such a pleasant baby...we are enjoying him so very much.

David has been enjoying having his Mimi and Aunt B around and yesterday Mommy and Aunt B took him to Toys R Us to buy him a special present. Poppop and Mimi got him the James train and Daddy and Mommy got him Cranky the Crane that David has been asking for ever since playing with the train set in Strasburg. He has been playing with his new toys ever since! :) We wanted to get him something special because of the very big transition he is experiencing.

Well, that's all for now. I'll keep you posted!

Love,
Dave, Sarah and the boys

One Week Old

Yesterday, Owen was one week old! This past week has flown by and it's still a little hard to believe that he's actually here! David is adjusting to having a new little brother and sometimes wants to act like a little baby too. Owen is a little more awake now, which is wonderful as he was very, very sleepy the first couple of days home from the hospital. He is sleeping well and eating well and a sweet little baby. We love him so much!!! It's amazing how miraculous the birth of every new little one is. We didn't think we could possibly feel the same way we did when David was born, but we did again. What a precious gift these boys are from the Lord. We are so grateful.
